Hey from NJ 86 Xj 2.5
Hey Guys Im 19 and I live in Ocean Twp NJ next to Asbury Park. I own a 2005 Evo 8. This is my first jeep and wont be my last! I have a friend giving me a 4.0 6cyl I want to rebuild and find a 4x4 to drop it into down the line and build from there.
I just Picked Up my First Jeep! Its a 1986 Cherokee 2.5l Auto Rwd with 159k. Power Windows/seats/locks/alarm, Everything works. I paid $500 Cash! I put new plugs in it at the guys house then drove it home.
It didn't run good it was sitting for over a year. It had bad gas and plugs were shot! The Map sensor was not plugged in and it had well over a gallon of water like oil in it. Well I drove it home. Drained the oil and flushed the system. Then put new oil and filter on. I Checked all the vacuum lines and replaced a lot of them. I put a new vacuum line to the Map sensor and filled the tank with fresh 93 with some sea foam. She is running pretty well now. Warmed up it idles at 1000rpm's so there may be a little vacuum leak or it could be the 93 doing it. But its got great oil psi and never gos under 35 cold.
Things it still needs!
There is a oil drip coming from the Oil pan or Crank main front seal. So I need to drop the oil pan and clean the oil pump and maybe replace the crank front main seal. It also needs motor mounts.
I also want to do a 3" lift. Im planning on running with the V8 Zj springs with 2" spacers in the front and Bastard packs in the rear with 1.5 shackles. This is a beater moneymaker jeep so its not going off road. I just cant stand how low it looks. I also want to take the ugly red carpet out and rhino line or find a rubber liner to replace the carpt and paint interior panals. I also need to change the tranny fluid/filter and the rear diff fluid.
