HELLO FROM NY

Hi all,

I'm Erik, I'm new to the forum, but I've been in the jeep scene for years. I picked up a new to me 96 2 door XJ about a month ago. Been working on getting it all road worthy and running smooth. Once I get all the bugs worked out then I'll think about building it up. Currently its on what I believe to be a 3" Rough country lift and 255/75/16 General Grabber AT2's. I'm pretty happy with how it sits now but I'm sure there will be improvements down the road. Maybe a low CG long arm? Who knows... It's a blank canvas.:icon_cheesygrin:

The body is in pretty decent shape. Real straight, the only real work I need to do is a floor pan on the passenger footwell right over the cat. I also need to seal up the pinch weld where the firewall meets the cowl. I'm almost positive thats the water source that rotted the floor pan.

So far I've fixed numerous massive vacuum leaks, all the standard tune up stuff and I'm almost finished with installing a reman head from CHI. It had leaky valve guide seals which ended up gumming up the EX valve on the #3 cylinder so bad the valve got burnt from not sealing right. The bulk of the time I've spent on it so far has been cleaning up the PO's crummy "wiring." So far I've pulled 2 partial alarm harnesses, a poorly installed stereo system and pile of scotch lock wire taps. (whoever invented those should be flogged)

Anyway enough rambling... Heres some pics of the rig.

New head

New Dorman header. The factory one was cracked badly at the collector. This is going to be followed up with a Flowmaster stainless cat and a Full stainless Flowmaster cat back system.

A little Switch panel/radio delete plate I whipped up on the mill at work.

Theres plenty more little detail stuff coming down the pike. I've had a bunch of XJ's over the years and just lived with the little tings that annoyed me. This one I'm going to do all the little things I've though about in the past. It's going to be a fun project for sure!
