Default Hello from Northern Idaho

Hi y'all,

So I'm new to the forum and i just bought my first jeep for $550.
Its a 1984 Cherokee with an engine swap, the best we can tell is that its an AMC 2.0 I4 out of a late 70's Gremlin/Spirit/Concord. It has a single barrel carb. The guy I bought it from didn't know anything about it. If anybody has any suggestions on how to go about figuring out what exactly it is, that would be great. I have the receipt for the engine from Spaulding Auto Parts of Spokane and someone spent $1056 on the engine, unfortunately the paperwork was left in the sun so the part of the receipt that would say what it was out of is blanked out, and Spaulding changed their computer system a couple years ago so they don't have it on file.

I look forward to talking to you guys.
Tye

P.S. This is what the casting on the block says,

Thanks for the welcome.
As for plans for the near future on the XJ:
- Getting my CB mounted, Any suggestions on mounting locations that work/don't work?
- Brush guard
- Winch
- A 2 or 3 inch lift
- Possibly installing a Snorkel
- Swapping out the single-barrel carb for a 2-barrel Weber

Not sure what all else yet, nothing overly excessive, kinda want to use it as an all around rig, something to go out play around in the woods in but can still do all right on the highway.
Any suggestions you guys have for cheap cool mods would be awesome.

Thanks again for the welcome and I look forward to meeting more of the Jeep community.
