Hello From NC!!
Hello everyone!!! My name is Mike, feel free to call me Mike ;)
I am happy to say that I purchased a 1993 Cherokee Country 4x4 a little while back for a steal of a price... $1,000. It is white, lifted and fun to drive. I just recently took this Jeep on a trip to Central Florida... not my choice to take it but my rental fell through. I was surprised that with 31" tires and a 4.56 gear that I got decent gas mileage on the trip. Sadly on the way back, most of the way home, it left my girlfriend and I stranded for 4 hours... the xfer case decided to explode, separating the front driveshaft from the case... that was a scary sound to say the least.
A hammer, 8mm socket and and some strong wire and we finished the trip by strapping the shaft to the exhaust pipe. Once I got home to my tools, I removed the front shaft and looked at the damage. The xfer case chain is in pieces and there are holes in the case. I will have a new case and I will have 4 wheel drive again. The problem I think is a stock gear up front and the 4.56 out back. I will be replacing both gears and the case as well as tires. BF TA AT's of the same size (31x10.5x15) 4.10 up front and 4.10 or 4.11 in rear.
I am happy to have this Jeep, the AC works as well as the heat... the engine leaks some oil for now but for the most part the XJ is all there. BDS has a 4.5" lift that I will also be getting. That's about it... so hello everyone!!
