Hi from Springfield, MO. I am new to the forum but not to XJs. I had a '90 back in the day (I drive a Wrangler now) and have passed the Jeep affliction on to my kids. Both are currently driving XJs that I am helping them learn to take care of.

My son drives a 2000 Sport named Tank (white, 3" lift), and my daughter has a 1999 named Candy (amethyst, stock suspension). Both were bought with relatively low miles - especially for a 4.0L - from people who took care of them, but they are 15+ year old vehicles that need some TLC.

From what I have read so far, nothing I am seeing is out of the ordinary and Jeep owners are a resourceful bunch. Most issues are cosmetic or convenience. We don't have any serious mechanical issues right now.

In the year or so we've had Tank, we've replaced rear brake seals and the master cylinder and repaired the power window module (awesome video on youtube showing how to repair cracked solder joints). It needs the center console mounting bracket replaced. It does need a new speedo gear to match the 31" tires, but we just haven't gotten to it yet.

Candy is a recent purchase that also needs a center consoles bracket, center console latch, the Part Time indicator light not working (replace transfer case switch?), and repair/replace the rear washer hose nipple.
