Angry headlight problem

I have a 95 cherokee sport. I just bought it way used and it has some electrical problems. i just changed the blinker/wiper/hi beams assembly to correct the problem and it didn't work. When driving at night, the headlights start to flicker/ completely turn off until i hold the bright switch back. That way, i have hi and lo beams on. ( low beams still flicker) then after about two minutes of that, it goes back to normal. ( they would continue to flicker even after i pull to the side of the road and stop with car still running) the switch i installed just plugs up so i know i didn't get that wrong. i hear no clicking sound when the lights go off and im pretty sure all connections are tight and secure. ( headlights only as far as i know. the brake light stayed on when the lights were off) if there is an electrician/ jeep fanatic out there that might know what this could be please respond.

Welcome, from Wisconsin. Make sure the grounds are tight for the head lights.
