Getting into Cherokees
Hey everyone,
I'm coming back to the states after being away the past 7 months and will be getting a cherokee.
I used to own a 99 TJ wrangler and loved working on it, but the wrangler is just too small to get another one. So the cherokee seemed like a perfect fit for what I need...mild weekend warrior off-roading, and strong daily driver.
Right now I'm looking at a 99 cherokee limited (red) with about 190k miles. Single owner, regularly serviced the whole time he's owned it...has towing package from factory (D44 rearend?), leather is in good shape for a 14 year old vehicle, and power windows/doors still work. Only negatives are a saggy headliner and a spot on the hood where paint is chipping from sun damage.
He's offering it for about half book value, so I figure as long as I don't find any major issues with it, it's a done deal...I will be doing a modest lift of 2-3in suspension (no blocks or shackle lifts), better tires, and replace the old junky Chrysler head unit.
Really excited to get back into jeeps after a 3 year hiatus!

Welcome back to the jeep family.
99 limited.
....more than likely its a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle. pics would help. but when you look at the rear diff, is the bottom flat? if so that's a 8.25
