Default Fresh off the Boat, Fresh new XJ, fresh to AZ

Hi All

Just moved to AZ from the good Olde Country of England. Brand new to the XJ scene, though been wanting to buy one for a very long time. Ready to get stuck in and get dirty. Not much "Off-roading" available in the UK.

Pulled the trigger last week on a clean 1992 Cherokee Laredo w/195k miles, 33" A/T's and a 3" block lift in the back lovingly supplied by the previous owner. PO also put in all new steering, new bushings and a horrible 1" spacer lift in the front.

Took it to my local shop the other day to have it looked over and to my surprise the guy said that it was the cleanest '92 that he had seen for a very long time, which makes me incredibly happy.

Whilst I was at the shop, we removed the rear sway bar, the lining in the front wheel arch and took a hammer to the fender seals to allow the 33's more breathing space.

Took my baby "Off-road" for the first time down at Sycamore Creek off the B-Line, for anyone that is familiar with AZ, and she did very well. Everything works fantastically.

Overall am very happy with my purchase, considering i got the guy down $900 from the asking price.

Plenty of plans in my head, but for now, space lifting the front to match the back and spacing the front wheels to allow more turnability.

That would be awesome. Always looking to find a good group of XJ's

I am interested in your steering, PO replaced OEM with OEM. Yours def looks a lot beefier? What do you have?

My steering is from ballistic fab here in Tucson. It is the 3/4 heim kit. I love it and have no complaints. It uses 1.5 .120 wall dom, and 3/4 heim joints. The only thing is, you have to either cut and relocate your swaybar brackets, or just take them off completely which is what I did.

Have just got back on here after going absent for a year, how was Gila River? I am looking for newer, more exciting off-roading, Sycamore is a little overrun these days! I have done a ZJ 1" Solid Steel Tie Rod upgrade since and it's worked fantastic!

Howdy neighbor! I currently live in Apache Junction but work in Chandler, so chances are I will see you driving around at some point. Better get your target shooting in quickly because very soon it will be a bit hot outside for outdoor shooting (and definitely check for shooting restrictions related to fire danger). Unless you drive up to the forest. Which if you have not done yet you SHOULD. Google Forest Lakes, AZ. Or Mormon Lake. Or Happy Jack. I could go on but you get the point.

On that hood I see a 12ga, an AR and perhaps a 9mm. How about more details?
