Drivers door question
 

Hi, I'm new to forums and don't know my way around. Hopefully I'm not out of line with anything here.
I have a 2005 grand cherokee limited, 4.7 v8, awd . My drivers door does not line up correctly. The original door seemed to sag a little and didn't close properly. Just a little out of alignment. When closed the chrome trim and body lines of the door were about 1/4" down and out(away) from lining up with the rear drivers door. The hinges seemed fine and there is absolutely no play in them, they are very tight fitting. While driving, the door appeared closed enough but can almost feel and can absolutely hear wind coming through the top of the door by the weatherstrip. I can litteraly try to squeeze the door closed a little more with my fingers and it makes it much better. Can easily stick my finger between the weatherstrip and the door and the door seems to need just a bit more to seal correctly. The weatherstrip still looks new and is good and soft . The door eventually got a small dent in it and I recently had it replaced.(this was all happening before the dent happened) I figured the old door was messed up at one point and that's why it wouldn't line up or seal right. After the replacement was installed, it's the same exact thing, the door lines up a tad incorrectly and the wind noise is almost even worse. If I'm going into a head wind it's almost more tolerable to crack the window for the sake of less noise. I definately have a hard time hearing regular conversation. Is there an adjustment for this? The hinges fit tight and have no play but is there something im missing about them and they still need replacement?

This could be way off....but, I once locked my car keys in a Honda Accord. I called AAA and the tech came out, squeezed an inflatable pad in between the door and the vehicle and pumped air into it. This allowed a solid 1-inch gap so he could reach inside with a tool and unlock the door. Watch youtube videos if you're unfamiliar with this process.

They said this way "was better" because it did not scratch the glass using a slim jim. Fast forward a few weeks and I noticed the exact type of noise you're dealing with, including all the symptoms. The upper part of the door frame was for sure bent outward. With the door open I rolled down the window and literally pulled the upper door frame inward towards the car, bending it slightly and the noise was gone. Maybe this could work for you but I would use this as a last resort.

Again, this was a Honda but nevertheless, the door was bent and bending it back sealed it up tight again, for me. Good luck with the Jeep

i did that process with my jeep pushing the frame. It did work but still wasnt enough to seal and i didnt want to risk damaging my frame because i put alot of pressure and didnt want it to completely fold down.... I may try ratchet straps next with slow even pressure
