Default In the desert

Hello everyone,
I am a soldier stationed at Fort Hood Texas but currently in Kuwait and will be home in July or August.
I have had many full size 4X4 fords through the years to include 93 Bronco, 76 and 65 F-250s, but I just purchased my first jeep, it is a bone stock 87 cherokee (88 by the VIN) that has recently had engine, trans rebuild, brakes and all hoses replaced, all for $800. The funny thing is I have only seen pics of it, the wife saw it for sale near a friends house and told me about it.
When I get out of the desert, of course I will give it a good going over and replace all the fluids, and of course will install a 3" lift and 31. 10.50 15s. I would like to hear what other mods you have done that have or have not worked for you.
I am looking for other wheelers or clubs in Central Texas and am excited about wheeling this jeep.
Hope to meet some of you soon.
Roz

Welcome from OK! With just a 3" lift you probably won't NEED to do any othr mods. You may want to do a transfer case drop if you have vibes. Thanks for serving our country!

Default Thanks for supporting the troops

Thanks for the advice, I will add that x-fer drop kit to my list. I plan to keep it pretty mild since it will be my daily driver for a while. Of course the wife has the brand new car, but I have a 65 F100 I am (was) in the process of renewing. After I get that running right then I can go wild with the Jeep.

Welcome from Deep South Texas. Thanks for your service. There are several good clubs in Central Texas and further north. You might try the 4Wheel Parts store in San Antonio for a more complete listing.

Default here she is

My $800 starting point. I can't wait to get out of here an get my hands on her, the beautifull wife first, then the jeep.
Can anyone tell me what the Pioneer is? Is it just the trim option that makes it different?

Default Still deployed but got my 31 10.5 X 15's

Scored a set of rims and 31 10.5 15 Good Year AT's. I attached a pic of them, the guy didn't need them anymore. I hate to see this happen to such a nice jeep and thank God nobody was hurt besides some bumps and bruses.
This brings my grand total up to $900 invested, now I just need to find a smoking deal on a rear locker and my 3" lift and will have it all ready to assemble when I get home. 5 more months to go
