A cleeeeeean '97
Ya hey from the U.P. of Mich. I've been checking out various jeep forums and this one looks great! I found a super clean Sport 6cyl auto with 102K miles and almost zero rust except for some screw and bolt heads which I've been treating as I find them. I soaked the top rear shock mounts with pbBlaster for a couple days and got 3 of 4 of the bolts out but one broke, sheesh... ended up with a tack weld on that spot. No big deal as I will likely sell or wreck it before I need another set of new shocks. I have a '96 Grand Cherokee Laredo in the parts bin now, for me it has too many issues to tackle with 176K miles on it so I decided to move on and am sure happy with this xj altho it doesn't have the selec-track which I enjoyed on the icy winter roads here.

it has a tow setup including electrical under the front bumber like it spent time being towed behind some big rv. I suspect it was kept in a garage during their off season, obviously including winters from the looks of the underside.

Welcome to CF from Buck in western Washington state. That is a very nice 97 you have there. Looks like a great starter for a project rig.
