Hey everyone my name is jimmy and I am new to jeep. I am looking into purchasing a 1999 classic 4 door. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what sort of issues this particular model year has. I has 180k miles but it seems like everything works pretty well. It is at a local mechanic who just did top end motor work. It has a new radiator and interior is in pretty decent shape. Body seems straight. Its not lifted nor does it have bigger tires. I doubt that it has been seriously off roaded. I would primarily use it as a daily driver so it would need to be reliable (hence the reason 180k miles concerns me. I would like to be able to meet up with a few people from this site and go off roading occasionally.*The owner (machanic and shop owner) wants $3000, but I could probably get it for $2500. Or probably some service at the minimum. What do you guys think?

 

Welcome to the forums. U can offer 2000 first then negotiate up to middle

 

99 is a great year for XJs, even at 180,000 miles, the jeep is still going to have lots of life left in it with good maintenance. You should go for it.

 

I would say there are better deals out there. Just be patient.

 

If its clean and you can get it for around or lower then 2500 of buy it.
