bay area!!!

hey guys [and hopefully girls..??]

after many years of looking and pondering, i finally bought a 2001 cherokee sport. its stock now, straight 6, 120,000 miles, but its in good shape, and doesnt look like its even ever been in the dirt, so i figure it will be a good foundation.

:]

i know a decent amount about mechanical issues on trucks in general, but im not super familiar with jeeps, so i hope to learn some things from this forum.

also, id love to meet with some people or clubs in the bay area [CA] to maybe go on some trips with.

Im a welder, and i have a access to a full machine shop, so if i get time ill hopefully be doing some fun custom mods, and ill be sure to post as much info/pics if anyone else wants to do the same mod.

nice to meet everyone, and nice to finally have my own xj.

my friend and i are trying to get away this weekend with a cooler full of beer and his dog... could anyone recommend a fun place to go wheel and camp thats possible for a stock cherokee [not for long], and an extended cab chevy pick up..?

like between sac and tahoe...?

as far as welding, if anyone needs work done, my shop is a little slow at the moment, so please hollar at me and we'll talk... we have a full cnc mill & lathe dept also.

Welcome from Oakland. Where in the bay area are you located? It's probably too far out of the way but I know theres a bunch of OHV trails up near Downieville, CA. I've never been wheeling up there, but I go mountain biking there over the summer and the trails look pretty fun.
