Hello everyone..
I have always wanted a Jeep Cherokee for years....
(almost bought one about 19 yrs. ago...but got talked out of it.:-(

Fast forward 2019...Got one.! My neighbor unfortunately had a stroke and couldn’t drive anymore..

So I am the proud new owner of this one owner 96 XJ Cherokee “classic” 128,000 miles, 5 speed and in overall very good condition. $100.00

i hope to learn a lot and help others out here.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.
You pretty much had no choice on that one huh?

Loving the stock look, wheels, and especially color. Red is the color I wanted least (used to have a green) but it's growing on me. I prefer those incognito colors when I'm out in the hills. :ninja: Low miles! That's too bad about your neighbor. I have definitely learned a lot here, everyone is very kind and helpful.

My first XJ was a '96. Mine was an OBDII. I am under the impression that not all are. Not a deal breaker but I am glad mine was.
I loved that Jeep. Ran like a champ. But structurally she was a disaster. I mean to the point that a small section of the uni-body
was rotting out. Not to mention floors, rockers, section of the rear quarter, etc. IMO all could be fixed. If I knew how to weld I would
have saved her. Beside the normal Jeep stuff nothing out of the ordinary that I am aware of.
I came across my '00 which was a little bit of a fixer upper. Nothing crazy. Maintained and drove both Jeep for awhile.
Got to the point where the '96 would just sit for months on end. Always started. Finally sold her to what I believe to be a good home.
Said he was going to save her. I was more concerned about that then the money. LOL.
In hindsight I should have bought a welder and tried to learn. What was the worst that could have happened? LOL.
