Snow Blower for...

I inherited an 8HP snow blower (MTD brand with the Tecumseh HMSK80) from a friend and it sat dry for about 5 years after he did what he called some "rebuild" repairs. I didn't really need it beacuse my 25 y/o Crapsman snow blower keeps ticking along just fine.

At initial checkout, with only a splash of gas, the carburetor was unhappy and leaking like a stuck pig so I removed it for rebuild and ordered a rebuild a kit (10 days out). In the interim I found a replacement "OAKTEN" carburetor from HD for only $20. Needing the snow blower sooner than later I opted for the replacement carb for-now, with a plan to rebuild the original using the kit (which never came). It worked!

Step number next - change oil, plug and tweak/tune as-needed. It was running pretty well, warmed-up nicely and stalled once-or-twice while making carb adjustments. No big deal, right? Just restart at current settings (+/-)...

That was a new electric starter before storage five years ago. Now it crapped-out, spins but doesn't engage the flywheel. The blower will start by rope-pull. I am out of bandwidth and do not want to devote any more time/money to it.

If you want a worthy project for short money (like the cost of the carb plus run-around money) just PM me and maybe we can coordinate a drop-off, pick-up or a rendezvous location for truck-to-truck hand-off.

get it running, and remove the auger bucket, then just make up a plate, weld/bolt that onto the engine frame, and bolt a trailer ball onto that plate, and use it to move trailers around your yard. even has reverse...

Funny you should suggest, as I think I thunk a similar thought foraminit. But then there was that bandwidth issue again. I guess I led myself down the path to too many "irons in the fire" so to speak. My next door neighbor (just bought & moved in last July) is a happy camper now - I suggested it to him and he happily accepted the snow blower knowing I'll be nearby to advise and help him get it going, and on his dime too.
