5.9L ZJ grill

I picked up some 5.9L specific parts yesterday, forgot the grill is taller on a 96+ so I cant use it on my new project.

Black in color, but it does have some UV fading.. would look better with fresh paint. No cracks, in great condition.

$100 plus shipping, or pick up in Bristol Pa.

Forgot the pic.. has some dirt on it, pulled in rain yesterday.

That look nice. Could it fit a xj. Haha

OverlandZJ 03-28-2019 11:39 AM

No Neil.. no... but you should trade a set of cables and try anyway. ;)

These were 5.9L ZJ specific, but lots of guys like them for their 96+ ZJ's. Like I said, wont fit mine.

Well I knew they existed in a sense. That you could buy these type of aftermarket accessories for XJ's. But years later they are kind of non existent. Companies only making these types of items for newer vehicles. And never have actually seen pictures of them.
Well as you probably know I stalk Craigslist, Ebay, etc. So one day I come across a posting on Craigslist for the chrome grill and headlight bezels for the '97 and up XJ Limiteds. Of all the options I am trying to source for my "clone" build this is one I am not really interested in.
But for some reason I click on it anyway. So in the pictures I see the grill and headlight bezels. But what catches my eye is the grill inserts in the grill. Been looking for these for the longest time. So $80 later, with shipping from NY to CT, they are mine.
They were a brushed metal. Kind of matching the badging on the '00. I was not sure whether to keep them as is or paint them black. So I posted here looking for opinions. I can't remember who but one of the guys here photo shopped them black for me. I liked it so I painted them with the Duplicolor Plastic Dip. Just incase I changed my mind.

I have said it before and will say it again. Persistence pays off.
Hell you know better then most. A 120 MPH dash cluster and the Ext Idle switch?
I have an Ext Idle switch, not hooked up yet, in a 4 switch bezel that I purchased off Ebay in England for $25 shipped. But I don't have a 120 MPH cluster. Maybe I will find one someday. LOL.
Oh and don't forget about my headlight covers. $32 shipped from England. MLOL.

If I come across some I will be in touch.
But I would not hold your breath. LOL.

I did have this really stupid idea. Gutter guards. Something like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Spectra-...FM25/305062728

Only maybe not so expensive. Somebody on here, at least pretty sure it was on here, worked this out. Using something like above.
I was kicking around this idea for a few years in case I did not find any.
Can't remember who or find it. If I do I will PM you.

Ralph, any pics of how you cut the hood for the louvers? All open or holes drilled?

I grabbed those also, and a soundbar, and a K&N FIPK.

I stole this idea from 2 of the guys on here. It just so happened that at the time I was having my body guy handle some surface rust issues on my hood and roof. So it seemed like the perfect time to get this done. I gave him the pictures from their threads for positioning and whatnot and he took it from there. So go here and start at Post #30. Read to about Post #36 and that should give you what you need. Should check out the entire thread while you are there.

https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f177...42/index2.html

I am almost positive that he has a thread on this forum but for the life of me can't find it. He is really not around anymore. The other guy is this one.

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/b1...20622/index13/

Go to Post #191. He currently has a new build thread now and I am pretty sure he would not mind you contacting him if you had questions. b16gsr was nice enough to mail me that template. I passed it on after I was done with it. Hopefully I have their contact info. But not sure. Pretty sure they were on this forum and me mailing it to them came with the condition that they pass it on if asked. If I can't find there contact info, which I think I won't be able to (it was so long ago), maybe we can put out a request here and might get lucky. If you think you need it. Kicking myself at the moment for not making a duplicate. You should check out that whole thread too cause that is another excellent build.

If you do this maybe do a write up. Not often that people ask about this but it does happen from time to time. Might not be a bad idea to have all this info in one place.

OverlandZJ 03-29-2019 08:02 AM

I had not seen those two threads.. thank you.

I'll be ok without a template, just take my time. The first link at JF.. he did like several others with the bridge across center to keep rigidity.. i'll do the same.

So.. who wants this grill?
