Default WTB Built Dana 30/44 front

Hey All - I am in need of a new front axle for my 2000 XJ. Would prefer something that has already been built. Located in northern VA.

Thanks!

Anything can be built. What do you want? Budget?

Low or high pinion?
Truss?
Upper and lower control arm bracket upgraded?
Track bar bracket upgrade?
C arm gussets?
Inner sleeves?
Diff cover, steel or cast, brand?
Gear ratio?
Diff? locking?
Chrome moly axles?
Axle tube seals?
Knuckles, ball joints, unit bearings, rotors, calipers?

"East Coast Gear Supply can build me a HP dana 30, artec truss, c gussets, 4.88 gears, chromoly shafts, ball joints, knuckles, and unit bearings for $2200 plus $200 for shipping..let's say $2500. To go up to their dana 489 you're looking at like $5k.

**** seems overpriced in either option. I do need to keep my 5x4.5 bolt pattern as I just bought beadlocks after realizing I needed a new front axle. What could you do this build for"

Then you still need a lunchbox or locker for another $250-$600.

Building a D30 is not cheap.
Need to start with a straight stock D30 housing, then add-
Artec truss, UCA and LCA brackets, C gussets, track bar bracket
Synergy sleeves and sway bar brackets
RWK CM shafts
TrueTrac diff or Auburn Ected diff
Gears
Master bearing/rebuild kit
Diff cover

And then the time to order, strip, grind, drill, weld, set up, assemble. And what does all that cost?

My point is it is expensive and time consuming to build a D30.
Finding and buying a used suitable built axle is a crap shoot.

I would buy a used or junk yard HP D30 for $100-150, install the gears you need and run it until it breaks. Add CM shafts before or after it breaks.

If your 35" of less and are gentle and drive smart, you should be fine.
