We are selling our ‘01 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 XJ Sport. We are the second owners and have had this XJ since 2016. The only upgrades we’ve done since owning it are tires and wheels. Previous owners had it set up with a mediocre 3” lift, factory installed rear & front tow hitch/receivers for flat towing behind RV. Not much has been done to the Jeep since owning it other than it’s routine oil changes and occasional maintenance.
We have used it as a daily driver (city, highway and off-road), but are now selling the XJ due to moving and not having the capacity to keep another vehicle. This solid, rot-free Jeep has the original 4.0 engine and powertrain assembly and is a BEAST. We had planned a complete tear down and restoration for this Jeep, but not having a shop or garage has delayed the project and now are moving. It’s a tough decision,n but I have to downsize and can’t keep all my toys.
Jeep has 141739 miles, a clean title, heavy duty factory front and rear (gas tank) skid plates. Interior is in decent shape, not too dirty or worn out. Headliner is in good shape, not sagging or torn. For its age/mileage the XJ drives strong and straight but suspension components need service and replacement of some parts are needed. Typical leaks in engine bay around that valves, transmission pan. Nothing a little mechanical maintenance won’t take care of. Paint is original, faded and clear coat on roof, hood has oxidation. Passenger window/door switch occasionally works (drivers side no problem). Has some southwestern surface rust on a few places and components, easily removable. The front bumper has been replaced, the grill has some cracks, and the driver-side fender has a dent that can be easily fixed or replaced.
Will include front towing receivers, tow bar and headlight wiring harness upgrade, with a few other miscellaneous XJ accessories. It’s not a perfect Jeep, but sure is far from being a rotted out junker. A little TLC and minimal maintenance on this thing will keep it going for another few decades.
