1992 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 NC

Hey everyone it is time to get rid of the jeep I only recently got in December. Only reason I am getting rid of it is because we just found out it has a salvage title which I want something to drive on the road and can't with this. So here is everything I know about it.

inline 6 great motor with no known issues it looks like it was replaced either that or the gauges have been and motor has around 140xxx on it.

Thermostat is new that is 185 degrees.

6 in lift with 33's on it on black steelies

black stinger bumper and black roof rack

automatic inline 6 4x4 laredo package

interior in decent shape besides saggy headliner

Bad:
Salvage title but haven't seen frame damage at all and run and drives great

Needs thermostat sending unit which is $10

Death wobble around 45 mph but drives great until then

stinger bumper needs a little fixing from wreck I am assuming

Runs great just needs a new home for a trail toy

price is $2000 and located in Concord NC

According to the North Carolina DMV web site you can get a rebuilt title and license the vehicle. Did somebody not get the inspection done after the rebuild?

I live in Salisbury, I got a buddy who daily drives a ZJ with a salvage title. It's got all it tags, street legal. Why can't you drive a salvage title jeep?

For some it is their insurance company that will not insure it for road use. Reasoning, considered unsafe and increased liability for company.

That's a trip. The insurance company fixes the thing up then gets it inspected to be able to sell it, then won't insure it?:furious::furious::furious:

Thanks all, now what would be the proper procedure if I did choose to keep it so I would be able to get it driving on the road and insured?

who told you that you couldn't drive it on road? I'm guessing the insurance company wouldn't insure it?

Since I live in Arizona and just read the North Carolina MVD web site concerning this, it is my understanding that you have to take the vehicle to a motor vehicle inspection station and have a salvage rebuild inspection done. We have similar here in Arizona and what they do is inspect the vehicle and you need all the paperwork showing the parts and pieces you put on it. If you used parts from another vehicle that had the serial number not the same but stamped on the parts then a bill of sale for each part. It is a pain in the A** but it should let you plate it and drive it.
