zone off road 4.5 lift

Hey guys I'm looking more into depth on this zone lift kit. Just wondering if anyone has any positives or negatives on it. http://m.ebay.com/itm/171442131404?nav=SEARCH. And anything else I might need to get with it as well.

Personally I wouldn't recommend zone lifts.. If you want inexpensive go with RC or Rustys. You will also need brake lines with that zone kit.

Bustedback 12-24-2014 01:44 PM

I have heard they ride kind of stiff, but I have no experience with that lift.

sajohnson05 12-24-2014 02:16 PM

I really like mine. I have nothing bad to say but I have never had any other experience with any other lifts.

Talk about hitting the bottom of the barrel.

I've had the Zone 4 1/2" kit on mine for 2 years now. No real sag and it rides good. Not stiff but not spongy either. With leaves in the rear.

Isnt Zone a sister company of BDS? Id much rather take a Zone lift over RC or Rustys.

jbsjunk 12-24-2014 04:11 PM

Yes, their associated with BDS. This is their budget line.

And, Zone has all the extensions in their kit and a transfer case drop. Does anyone else?

Jameswest21 12-24-2014 04:14 PM

Yeah I'm staying away from rc I've seen there lifts and they do not have any longevity unless your a street queen. I actually use my jeep that's why I was asking and thanks for the opinions as they are duley noted. Also I'm imaging that a transfer case drop kit is needed?

jbsjunk 12-24-2014 04:17 PM

I've used them on 3" kits. Usually every Jeep is different to what it needs. I would go with a SYE with a 4 1/4 kit.

Id say its needed at 4.5" forsure, but Id look into a sye instead.

jbsjunk 12-24-2014 04:24 PM

Yes, it's needed, unless you go with a SYE kit. I like mine. Firm but not harsh.

Tsaani97xj 12-24-2014 04:27 PM

Youll regret getting their AAL no matter what condition your leafs are in. The shocks likely wont last long. Adjustable control arms should be added or at least uppers with the fixed lowers in that kit. You will want shackle relocation brackets, one of the best upgrades you can add. Transfer case drop and degree shims will be needed or better yet SYE.

I put their 3" kit on two years ago. Shocks barely lasted a year, the AAL tweaked my leafs in just a couple months. Coils were way too stiff. Replaced everything except the sway bar end links and I am much happier. Just my opinions.

jbsjunk 12-24-2014 04:32 PM

Weird, been using mine for 2 years now.

Personal taste I guess. Remember, it's not a Cadillac. Don't expect it to ride like one.

canada_man 12-24-2014 06:26 PM

I like my zone 4.5. Like said the the ride is firm but not harsh. The parts are beefy and well made. Im not a fan of the poly bushings that came with the rear springs and shackles but the lca have fixed rubber bushings and have put up to the abuse so far. I went straight to a sye and bought adjustable uppers. Remember though there is a bit of caster adjustment in the lca mounts. Buy it and ride then upgrade from there.

There is nothing worse then rc. Zone is better .

Bustedback 12-25-2014 05:46 PM

I just purchased a Rough Country long arm kit for my ZJ. I have not installed it yet, but I have unboxed it and inspected all of the parts. It all looks like quality stuff with the exception of the track bar, it looks a little weak in my opinion. The bushings are Clevite and the joints look beefy. I'm sure it will last for a long time.

swampxj86 12-30-2014 04:14 PM

I have the zone kit and i cant wait to change it out. it rides super stiff and the rc i had on my last xj was way nicer.

ThatDude114 12-30-2014 05:00 PM

Zone coils are stiff, the ride is perfect when you have an aftermarket bumper or winch up front. Their shocks are just like base shocks from RC and Rusty's. They have a good quality product for the price and I wouldn't hesitate buy from them again.

Jameswest21 12-31-2014 07:29 AM

Thanks for all the replys everybody. Seen some good and not so good but as far as I'm seeing the good outweighs the bad. I bought a 90 Cherokee cuz that's what I wanted! I definitely didn't expect a caddillac

Fred/N0AZZ 12-31-2014 08:40 AM

As far as lifts go the entry level all have about the same equipment included with them. The main cost of the kit are the coils and leafs and there quality. One company that proves that is Rustys Off Road their Coils/Leafs are all American Made and high quality, going on 3 yrs. with mine and zero sag carrying heavy loads always.

JeepaholicNinja 01-05-2015 08:53 AM

I have the Zone 3" with full leaf packs...I think the rear left corner sits maybe 1/4-1/2" lower than the right, but They're pretty close...Could just be my ocd or my Jeep. I know I had it riding around with a broken stock shackle on one side for like a year haha...I think it rides pretty darned decent, a little stiff but not bad. I mean maybe the front could be smoother but the back feels fine to me, and rides better with more than 1/3 of a tank of gas...Idk I guess I'm just glad to be off the original leafs, one of which literally cracked in half...I think the ride will be like a cadillac if I do a shackle relocation and new shocks...Thing I need most for ride quality right now is a death wobble cure. I plan on doing track bar/control arm stuff and see if that solves it
