Default ZJ front driveshaft as XJ rear?

Related to my last thread,, but more specific, so new thread.
I grabbed a 97 ZJ front shaft, for my 2001 XJ 4.0 auto, SYE, 8.25, I have a friend that can shorten it.

Once home I noticed the ZJ shafts tube was 1.75" dia,, not 2" like the XJs front shafts.
Will the 1.75" DS be "OK" for the rear of a XJ (DD, wheeling, etc)??
Kinda bummed I did not see this when I was pulling it.

If your front drive shaft is larger move it to the rear and that way you will have the stronger one in the rear .

Larger OD doesn't necessarily mean stronger.

I'd run it for what its worth ive dented and bent both my front and rear.. rear is 2.5" and fronts 2"

I havent cut a zj driveline apart so I dont know what's hiding there. Probly The same .08 wall

regardless of od they aren't beefy enough in tge wall thickness to survive what i put them through
