When doing the swap I know I have to trim the bracket but do I need to swap pullys also? I have a 2000 xj

Yes, you need to swap pulleys because the ZJ has more belt ribs than the XJ (IIRC).

Griding the bracket is easy, and there is one spot you need to grind on the engine block as well. There is plenty of material there and not too much needs to be ground away

And for the 00-01 XJ's I think you need to swap the rear connection as well (pull the rear cover off the alternator, and swap the "connector" plate out so you don't need to modify any of the XJ wiring)

Yes, use a pulley removal tool to get the old one off, and a pulley install tool to press it on the new alternator
I rented both tools from Advance Auto

I didn't swap the pulleys. You just have one unused rib on the alt. Has been fine for 40k now.

Any local store should have it. Don't run it w/o upgrading your wiring. If you're not running a stereo or a winch there likely isn't much point. If you want to cut down on your draw, LED TruckLites will help out a lot. I have LEDs everywhere.
