yj axle in xj?
ive looked on the internet but can find a clear answer. ive been looking for a front axle with 4.10s for a while. a guy phoned me saying he has a 95 yj with the 4.10s. if anyone has a link or an answer to swapping it into my 90 xj it would greatly help me.

They are the same in every way except the mounts. If you know a welder or go to a local welding shop it will be way less $ then sopping gears unless you know how to shim gears.. Just ask around your town.

ya i got about 5 good welders at work. it there alot of fab? and i could take the 4.10s but still have to pay to install them. i dont wanna screw with the gears. i have been looking for 4cyl cherokees with the 4.10s but i cant seem to find any. i need an alternative to match the 8.8 4.10 rear im putting in.

Ask one of those welders how much they would charge to cut the mounts and buckets off your axle and weld them on to the new one. Expect to pay 100-300 depending on what kind of guy they are and if it were me I would make you help taking the axle in and out. Gears at a shop would cost at least 300 and who knows if its dune right.

It would be best to do the lift and weld on the new buckets cause the axle would need to be out for both. But if you pay someone to do the gears it dose not matter. And the axle if it is from a Rubicon they call it a 44 but it is only a 44 housing with 30 internals. So ya its a D30 regardless of what type of yj it came out of.
