Xcelerator. I think it sounded better than the flowmaster 44 that's on mine now. And it's half the price. I had several people ask me what exhaust I had with the IRO catback kit.

Go to the muffler shop and ask for the cheapest "house brand" performance muffler they have. I want the quietist muffler I can find for mine I don't want for people to hear me coming and I will pay extra for that . The same reason I buy the best suppressors, the more quiet they are the more they cost.

Save your money the mega flow and flow crappers are really a waste of money for a 4.0 you could apply elsewhere on your XJ.

I run a Flowmaster 44 on mine.

It is very throaty and loud, I love it. Sounds like you would not.

Your question is so vague and subjective you might as well be asking "how long is a piece of string"?

Go back one page to Modified Tech, and scroll up to the top. If you're on the app tap "Stickies". You'll find there is a massive thread dedicated to exhaust stuff, and there's also a thread that compiles videos of exhaust sounds.

There are tons of 4.0s with all the various combinations uploaded to YouTube. Go check them out. Ultimately you are the only one who can decide what you like.

I will mention that if you wheel on US Forest Service land you are required to have a spark-arresting muffler.

If your staying with the factory size 2 1/4" exhaust just be aware that alot of the videos are 2 1/2". They can sound different.
