Have a 8.25 27 spline locker with 2 chips in it. Is this going to cause a problem? And would you run it?

No.
Once it's broken, it's a paper weight.

People were saying that it was ok to run because that part only keeps the spring in. Idk. I got ripped off

I sold one like that to a buddy of mine for $100. iirc we just welded it up and smoothed it out. it's still going very strong inside a D30 to this day
but the chips weren't near the spring/pins.. hope you didn't pay too much for it

Haha ya I may try to find someone cheaper or just sell it for what I got it for. As of right now I don't feel comfortable running it like that. But my front locker doesn't have any of that metal holding the spring in.

Hmmm. Next time I change the diff fluid I'll have to look at the spartans I have. I don't remember them looking like that. They don't have that open section where you can see the spring or that hole on the opposite side IIRC. I wonder if they changed their design more recently.

I found out many years ago in business, hobbies, tools even furniture that I was too poor to buy "CHEAP" it was just to expensive in the long run. Always try to buy the best you can afford even if you must save for a while longer it's better than buying twice or 3 times.
