Default WJ brakes what 15" wheels work best?

hey guys im re-gearing to fit bigger tires. With this ive been looking at upgrading the brakes and we all know the WJ swap.

I am considering keeping the 15" wheel platform for tire price reasons and as such I would like your experience on what wheels your running to clear the WJ caliper.

Some wheels will be better than others and if i go 15" i plan on having to grind a little off the calipers. I know 16"s are the easy answer but some tires are a 40 -60$ difference just to run the metric

I was told by frank at serious off road that 15s can fit but had to be so much back spacing and can't remember what he said. You could email him and ask.Or google 15 inch rims on a wj youll find the answer.

I run the WJ swap and am running black steel D window rims with 3.75 inch backspacing. This wheel barely clears the calipers by a couple of millimeters.

3.75 in backspacing is the norm, I seem to recall seeing someone with 4" backspacing that fit, they just had to clearance the calipers a little. If you're really concerned about it teeves calipers are supposed to fit a little better due to the smaller size, but the reason why Jeep replaced them with the akebono's is because they tend to warp rotors, although it would be less of an issue on an XJ due to the lighter weight of the vehicle.

i had to run 1.25 " spacers to make my 35's on steel wheels fit, my bs was 3.75.
