Winch Suggestions.
So i am going to be buying a winch here very soon and am asking for some advice. This will be my first winch. I have done a little research and have pretty much narrowed it down to a smittybuilt. due to price and reviews. From what i have heard they hold up good.
My only delay is how much winch do i need?
An 8k winch is 300.
A 10k winch is 400.
And a 12k is 500.
If i go with an 8k would a ****** block be suggested? Or should i not be such a tight ***, nut up and buy the 12k?
Thanks guys,
Dustin

Remember the weight recommendations for winches.
1.5 times the vehicle weight is acceptable, 2 times the vehicle weight is preferred. So 8000 would be fine, and for the money I would go with the Rough Country 9500 lb winch with the synthetic rope for $450.00. ( Unless you do most of your wheeling in mud. ) Then I would get the 9500lb Rough Country with steel cable for $300.00.

i have read nothing but good reviews on these: http://truckandwinch.com/recon-10-500-lb-winch.html
10.5k lbs and synthetic line. i was gonna bite on it myself but ended up buying a newer xj with a winch included.

I use the synthetic rope because I don't do mud, and I love to go snow wheeling.
If you've ever tried pulling 100 foot of steel cable in 4 foot of snow you understand how much of an advantage synthetic rope is over steel.
