winch bumper vs removable 2" winch plate.
Okay. So I have bent my Nates 4x4 front bumper and I am in the market for a new one. I know I want JCR's new redesigned prerunner bumper. But I can't decide if I want a winch bumper or not. At first I wanted the winch bumper, but the more I think about it, the better the removable winch plate sounds. I like the idea of having a winch if I need it, but being able to keep my approach angle. Also the winch bumper is more expensive. What do you guys think?

hidden winch bumper.winch is out of the elements (for the most part) great approach angle and the winch is there when you need it . Plus if the winch is floating around in the back of the jeep could be dangerous. Plus you will have to buy longer cables and hook ups if its removable.plus it looks goofy hanging on a receiver mount.

Why would you need longer cables? Unless he runs the cables to the back also, all he'll need to do is add a quick disconnect for the power. I plan on doing the receiver and plate mounted winch my self, more so I can use it front and back. At work we have many trucks, some with each of the 3 designs. The winch bumper is okay, but huge(its on a F-350) so it has like 0 approach angle, the hidden ones are nice until you have to get on the floor to change the gear(on a 2500 silverado) My favorite is the removable(another 2500 silverado), looks beast when its not on, and always bolted in the bed when not in use(has a shell so no, its not exposed to the elements) We are getting a new F-250 which will have a hitch mounted winch as well.

so when you get stuck, your gonna go get a winch on a plate (heavy) that is stored in the back of your jeep? i never could find a good reason to have a removable winch plate, at least for the type of wheeling i do.

Hidden behind the bumper. I built this in about 5 hours with about $75 invested.

Ugly? Kinda, but usefull, plus that carrier sits wayyy out there, the one im gonna build will be built to match my bumper which is basically the same design of the hidden winch one above, but obviously no winch, and It has wings coming off to protect my light/fenders and misc crap lol.

Get stuck? I put this jeep where no one thinks it should be lol even me sometimes, only time i've been "stuck" was when I got high centered, and my buddy was able to just rock me back and forth till I got traction and pulled my self over. I want a winch for those steep climbs where its real easy to get to heavy on the gas and roll back.
