Why r my off road lights not working?!?!?
Couple months ago I bought some lights from autozone to go on my front bumper. Me an my buddy wired them but I didnt install the switch till later. The switch is one of those push pull ones from auto zone its just like the headlight one but smaller. So after I wired the switch just recently it broke so I bought a new one. The silver one that you flick up and down. I wired it it worked so I put the plastic piece under the steering wheel where I mounted it and it stopped working. So I took it apart and tried switching the wires. Re stripping them and connecting them and nothing!?! So now idk what's wrong

that would be the first thing i would check, amperage on the switch, if you run a cheap switch you have to at least run a relay. and as said run an inline fuse.
even with a good switch i still run a relay and an inline fuse.

all a switch does is open & closes a circuit... make sure the fuse/relay/bulbs are good, then just touch the ends of the wires, that connect to the switch together, & see if the lights turn on... if they do, its possibly the switch... tug & wiggle the wires (while connected to eachother & lights ON) a bit... if they turn off, there could be a short near where u have mounted the switch... if they continue to work, its something else (bulbs, fuse, relay, or other connections could be loose)
how did u wire the lights?.. what wattage bulbs?.. what size wires?.. with relay?.. what size fuse?.. how many posts does the switch have?

ok are my eyes ****in with me or is that first pic simply wires twisted together? and secondly that crimp connector setup wont last long in an exterior situation when its exposed to the elements, do it right and solder it or get some proper weather proof fittings.
secondly you said the switch got hot so i take it your not running a fuse, if thats the case please get a fuse on the power wire so you dont burn your jeep to the ground......you may laugh but ive seen lazy wiring catch fire when i was in a buddies truck.
the fact the the switch got hot means its likely shorting somewhere its just a matter of where.....having proper connections throughout the circuit help to avoid shorts.........and a fuse will kill power if something shorts and causes a high draw.

I can't tell what's going on in the first pic, but I can tel you those switches can't take any abuse. If it got hot, it's likely junk. If you don't have a multimeter to test its continuity, go spend another few dollars and replace it.
Best deal would be some heavier wire and relays. At a minimum, get some new butt connectors and wrap them with eletrical tape, you need a little TLC on that wiring job.
