AdamK and I emailed spectre last summer and got a response from a K&N Engineer.
They were purchased by K&N and will no longer be supporting the 4.0L Cowl Intake

I have actually considered it seriously. I have worked for myself for the last 20 of 25 years and have the resources. I just don't have the manufacturing connections.... but I have overcome bigger hurdles.

Desertfox is correct, they are no longer going to offer the Cowl Intake, and instead came out with a water sucking Cold Air Performance Intake - Maybe if enough people complain, they will consider coming out with it again

They must have thought it cut into their market share enough to do a buyout then discontinue the product to push their own product.
Happens everyday any more to a lot of different products. Turbo XJ is correct a small business is hard to setup production for a single product that has enough markup to pay the bills in a small market like for an XJ unless you have access to penny's an hr. labor.

I just wanted to revive this thread I had created 2 years ago, to let you all know the cowl induction kit has returned. I got in touch with Mike at THOR (Trail Head Off Road) about 8 months ago. He told me that sales went down and he stopped listing the product. I was happy to help him market his new rendition, (marketing is my background) and so from there we worked together to develop a 3rd generation kit for 91-01 XJs. It is a one piece construction, and you may have seen the install on BleepinJeeps Channel. I will be creating a writeup for the newly available cowl induction kit and have a code for you guys to use to get a free item too. This has gone from a 1 to a 2 man operation, so please be understanding in the distribution process. www.tinyurl.com/XJCowl

hey guys so how will this work with us aussie guys with RHD models? Is it as simple as flipping the piping to go the other way? And that mount/bracket, can that be flipped? Interested in this just need to know it'll actually work or if I'll need to byo new flexy pipe to relocate
Which side of yours is closed? I suspect it's the same as the LHD model (your driver's side), which would mean you would want to install yours the same way as on the LHD model. Does your RHD engine bay have something in the way there that would prevent you from installing it on that side?

The cowl is open on one side to let air in and closed on the other. These cowl intakes take their air from the closed side to avoid pulling water into the intake.
