Default Wheel spacers on stock Cherokee classic rims

Ok so recently I purchased a jeep Cherokee classic with a 3 inch lift with 31” tires on stock rims that rub the lower controls. I am a newbie in all this and need to know the best way to eliminate this problem. Can I put wheel spacers on stock rims? What is the best fix for this problem

You can use wheel spacers with any wheels, just be sure they are good quality and installed properly. A 1.5" spacer should be about right.

and if you are talking about the parts store variety 1/8", 3/16". or 1/4" variety spacer, you will need longer lug studs to be safe.

Put a washer behind the steering stops.
Cheap & easy fix.

I wouldn't recommend using one of those, only the wheel spacers that bolt to your existing studs that have their own studs you bolt the wheel to.

Been using them for years....they are fine as long as you install longer wheel studs.

Most people don't, then they don't have enough clamping force with the lugnuts due to insufficient thread engagement, and that's where the problem is....

Dodge even used them from the factory on some trucks on the front axle.

You asked what's the best way to fix the problem , 1 best way is to get different wheels , 2 is to add in wheel spacers that have there own studs .

The best way would be to get lower control arms that are bent for clearance.

Wheel spacers that have their own studs will move the tire/wheel combo out and wear the ball joints faster...not a necessity for what he needs to accomplish.

But he has the info, so he can do what he wants to. I know what I did, and it's works just fine, with no accelerated ball joint wear from moving the tire out 1 1/2".

Wheel spacers wouldn't put anymore stress on the ball joints or wheel bearings than running wheels with less off set does.

I bought the JCR spacer for the set of JK rims I had on my XJ and they were great no issues.

Don't turn the wheel all the way to the lock. Zero cost/effort to solve the problem. My 33x12.5s mounted on 15x8s w/ 4" BS rub at full steering lock. Only time you turn to full lock is in a parking lot. If the tire rubs, let off the steering a hair. Been rolling that way for two years. Only issue to arise is the paint is rubbed off the LCAs where the tires rub. No biggie.

Yes, use 1.5" spacers from a good manufacturer. I had Spidertrax and they worked great. Had their own high quality studs built in of course. MAKE SURE TO TORQUE THE SPACER PROPERLY so you'll need a pry bar to wedge in between the studs or someone inside with their foot on the brakes. Don't use an impact to torque these, use a proper torque wrench. Good luck!

I think you mean brake not gas.
