Hi,

I am wondering if wheel spacers are safe, I mean I wont be doing any hard wheeling mostly road but I have always heard mixed reviews on wheel spacers.

they are if you get quality ones not eBay junk, torque them down properly, and check their torque regularly.

I have 4 of the 1/4" thick spacers on mine now for tire clearance (1 at each corner). I did install slightly longer lug studs to accommodate the added thickness.

Been working fine for several years now.

I've had spacers on my jeep for 6 years now, even running blacks to crossing over PA for 8-12 times a year for 4 years straight. Never an issue. Just check them every tire rotation, use locktite, and buy hub centric.

I ran 2" spacers. The solid aluminum ones. I had to buy new ones because the PO didn't check torque settings and a couple lugs sheered off. They are safe in my rig, just please check the manufacturers specs for tightening and checking after first install. Mine weren't just spacers though, they were also adapters.5x4.5 to 5x5. If you have them and they came with your Jeep, make sure they aren't adapters. Lesson learned the hard way.
also, on the same subject... Are spacers safe with more backspacing? I was thinking of getting lower offset (pushing tires outward) with spacers. I figured that with 2" spacers, with an inch less offset, I could gain 6" total width, thereby lowering center of gravity. Any thoughts on that? Additional ball bearing wear and tear or anything like that?

Wheel spacers are safe as long as they are installed and torqued properly. I have 2" wheel spacers on my 7500 lb Superduty and I haven't had a single issue with them. I also put thread locker on the inside lug nuts to keep them from backing off.

I didnt buy that jeep and I ended up not buying the white one due to the drive to get it. I will let you know when I do secure one but I am still looking at others.

I won't use them because what good ones cost i might as well buy new steel rims with the back spacing i want.I won't lie i use to work in a garage i seen a few that failed and thats a another reason i won't use them.

I will end up getting some rims if I buy the jeep since it has some jeep rims on it which are not bad but I would like to add some style found a set of pro comps for cheap.

Been running 1.5" wheel spacers for years now. Red loctite and proper torque. The reason wheel spacers fail is when people get lazy

The jeep I went to look at with the spacers on it needed a lot more work then they let on. It had an oil leak which said to be fixed but there was still slot of oil. No rust as I could see but the interior needs replaced. The back seat has just foam and front is looking the same way no headliner and the mounted lights thru the roof at the sun visors.

They were asking 1800 for it and overall it was solid but it still needs some work to get it where I would be comfortable with putting my kid in it l.
