wheel spacers
I tried using the search to find out if anybody had any input on wheel spacers and came up with nothing.
I like the look of the tire hanging out a couple inches past the flares or sides. I know I could play with back spacing on the rims but is it easier just to get spacers ? I also know that I will probably end up with a inspection ticket if I hang them to far but only plan to drive this occasionally and to go hunting. so if you are running spacers or have any horror stories please let me know , thanks |

There are many threads out there. Use the above search technic. That being said, I've run spacers for 2 years on stock wheels and 31s and now on cragers and 33s. As far as getting a ticket, look at this: http://www.liftlaws.com/maryland_lift_laws.htm

i'm running backspaced (3.75) wheels and 2 inch spacers... for now.

I have been on two different stock wheels for around a year and a half now with my 1.25" spacers on 31s and have no issues at all with them. Spacers, just like any spacer such as coils or even blocks are good to a point. I think 1.5" is the maximum I would trust for wheel spacers. Just look at getting hub centric spacers, use locktite, check them every time you change your oil, and you should be fine.

A lot of guys run wheel spacers. The bad stories are from the lugs not being torqued the proper amount. Ive ran them myself for a couple years and no issues at all. Rough Country has the least expensive. They are about $140 shipped for a set of 4.

Spydertrac 1.25" let me run a 31" on stock jeep rim without rubbing the lower control arms at full lock. Tires still look in good positon of the stock fender flares but do throw past the flares in snow and mud. I always anti seize the hub and spacer contact area and torque em to 100 ft lb. No problems in over 250K km+, purchase from QTech over 4 yrs ago..

I ran spacers on an old explorer I had for a few years so I could run newer wheels that had a different offset. Never had any problems. Have had several people tell me how dangerous it is. They are all maroons. If they are properly torqued, you will have no issues. Ever seen the front end of a dual rear wheel truck? They come from the factory with spacers.

I agree with you on the price for wheel spacers. Some people don't want to spend another $50 to have their tires mounted again though. For me I ran a 33x10.50 tire on a 15x7 wheel. I also had 1 ton steering with off set tre so I needed to get some spacers. I didn't want to run a 10.50 tire on an 8" wheel.

i paid 20 bux for my 4 wheel spacers at a hot rod swap meet. lol.
but of course proper backspaced wheels are a much better idea, but when you find a deal, the time to buy is now. |
