Default wheel size for 12.50s

Today i got a set of 5 brand new pro comp La Paz wheels for $399 at the 4 wheel parts truck show. They are 15x7 with 4.5" backspacing. I jumped the gun now I'm worried that my 33x12.50s are to wide for this wheel. What are your opinions on running 12.50s on 7 inch wheels? If they will work....is 4.5" backspacing enough. Please let me know so i can either get these mounted up or sold. Thanks

*Technically* will work, 4.5" isn't enough especially on 7" rims. The tires will rub on the suspension and possibly the inner fender. You'd need a lot of lift or wheel spacers to work around it, and I wouldn't air down a 12.5" wide tire on a measly 7" rim.

Minimum you want is a 8" wide rim with 3.75" backspacing.

7" with 12.50" tire is the poor mans beadlock. Airing down will not be an issue. You'll be fine. As for the backspacing you will rub your lower control arms when you get close to full lock.

My 31x10.50s on 15x8s with 3.5" backspacing rubbed on my control arms at full lock, the bumper caps and the fender flare a little.

I imagine with more backspacing and a wider tire you will have some issues. Going to need to trim and adjust steering stops so you're not hitting the lcas all the time. The rear might be an issue with the tire getting really close to the leaf spring.
If I were you I'd try returning those wheels for some ones that will fit better.

MileHi, If you want to know if a rim will fit for your tire and rim package. You can do a little math to figure it out.
12.5/7=1.786
1.786x4.5=8.035
1.786x2.5=4.465
8.035+4.465=12.50
So from your wheel mounting surface the tire will stick out 4.465 inches and 8.035 will be tucked inside.

As for airing down for wheeling it will work great, may not be as good for DD duty.

Sell them and buy the proper size to start with, you will be happier in the long run with your build.

Just reiterating what has been said already. Sell what you bought and buy the correct ones needed. 8" wide rim is needed for 12.50s, 7 is just way to narrow as a shop will likely not even mount it for you.
