Default Whats all needed for a front and rear axle gear swap?

I'm thinking of upping my gears to 4.10. I have 3.55 now and with the 31's it's a killer on gas mileage. Plus in the future I might go 33's but that's the max. So I wanna get back some of the lost power.

I have the Chrysler rear end. It's a 2000 XJ Sport. Not sure about the front. (low pinion etc.)

Is this all I'm gonna need? Minus some sealent and diff fluid? Anyone recommend a good place to buy a set for a fair price. Good brand?

you need the ring and pinions for each axle, master install kits for each, and a new carrier for the dana 30 (2000 should be low pinion)

i bought my nitro gears from JT differentials http://www.justdifferentials.com/

You really think 4.56's are needed. It's a DD and hunting rig. Not a dedicated trail rig.

Apparently I'm blind or just dumb but I'm not seeing anything for the rear end.

What do you think it will cost for everything needed for something like this?

Guess it would help to look under the Chrysler section for the rear end.

I got everything for my axles from http://www.justdifferentials.com/
Answered all my questions, gave me a discount, and fast shipping. Great experience!
Give them a call they'll help you get just what you need.
4.10s or 4.56 will work fine 4.56 would be better for 33s, but would be really low for 31s

PS. They sell Nitro gears and axles which I think are some of the best. JMO

Jmac, I just recently switched to 4.10 gears. I'm running 32's and knew I would never go any bigger. Mine is my daily driver too. Going to the 4.10 made a lot of difference but i knew I would never go any taller than I am now. If your going to run the 33's for sure then I'd go with the 4.56. The jump from 31 to 33 is a bigger jump than it sounds. I bought all my parts at 4wheelersupply, Yukon gears for the front dana 30, Superior gear for the rear Chrysler 8.25 and a Spartan locker for the dana 30, I also bought Yukon master installation kits for both. About $900 in parts. Oh yea, going to the lower ratio you'll have to buy a new carrier for the dana 30. It was a hard job but I'm glad I did it. Are you planning on doing the work yourself?

I'm not sure if I'll do it myself. I live in an apartment but my uncle has a lift in his garage that he stores his '67 Cutlass and 'Cuda in but that's not a guarantee I can use it.

More than likely I'd just pay someone. I know a guy that does good work for a very fair price if you pay cash.

I'm not sure I'd ever go 33's but can't say for sure. That's why I was thinking 4.10's.

Since you just did it did you notice any difference in gas mileage or anything noticeable?
