what type of locker is this?
i bought a dana 30 and 8.25 both with these lockers. i think he said they were lockrights.
but anyway....just took apart the dana 30 and found the front locker was broke. i think its some sort of synchro that only allows the locker to actually lock after 1 full rotation... maybe just to cut down the ratcheting noise? anybody know anything much about these lockers? and who even makes this one?
any help would be appreciated

I would say lockright but im no expert on lockers. I'm just starting my research on lockers now..
Easy to tell for the C8.25 though, if its 29 spline its an aussie or lockright. if its 27 spline its a lock right for sure.

Ther are lockrights. Google go to the MFG site and download the instal and maintenace liturator. They are supposed to ratchet as the are AUTOMATIC lockers. They should ratchet or unlock when the wheels NEED to spin at different speeds. Like when turning a corner. Nothing LOOKs broke to me. Ussually it the pins and springs that wearout or break.

one side, other side
i found the other one detached next to where it should be... and capslock is unnecessary because i do know how automatic lockers work. but i was asking if anybody knew about the little cog which doesnt seem to do much of anything....but i dont really feel like putting it back in, and having it grenade everything.

Download the instructions. That cog location may be there for an installation reason.

They are Power trax lunch box lockers. The one that is broken, has a common problem during installation. Richmond Gear should be able to sell you a replacement part. That is if you want to keep it. I put one in the 8.25 on my XJ, and took it back out. I put in a LSD that works well. I'm going to OK4WD - OKtober fest tomorrow. Some one might get lucky, if I find someone who wants it cheap.

those are powertrax no-slips. i know, i just installed one.
the broken part is the synchro ring, and yes it is designed to eliminate noises or ratcheting of the locker. i have no idea if it being broken will affect the locking capabilities, best call powertrax on that one. here is the install instructions for it: http://pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista...on%20guide.pdf

get a replacement for it. its a no-slip and with broken paddles it doesnt work right. Many have found that the broken paddle will lead to no locker engagement. Plus, if you have it in there with the locker working properly you will understand why its better. Definitely download the install directions before putting it back in to make sure you dont break another, as thats when it happens.
also, looks like the 8.25 is a lock right. There are only lock rights for the 27 spline and no-slips for the 29, so also looks like youve got a 27 spline. Unless of course thats an Aussie...
