What trans will fit
hey guys what trans will fit my 97xj? im looking at doing the 4x4 conversion and someone told me i had to get a 97+ jeep because the sensors on the trans are different? can someone clarify please?

you have a couple choices, you can either keep your trans and swap the output shaft and housing, or you can replace the trans completely (probably easier)
The AW4 automatic transmission you have is the same no matter what year XJ it comes from, as long as the donor has the 4.0L engine. Sensors are the same AFAIK.

Engine: 12 hole bosch Injectors
donor vechicle will give you alot of extra parts besides the 4x4 set up, sticking with the same trans make sit a lot easier auto /auto /stick /stick also

Iknow that. I'm just asking can I use any automatic trans from any year xj with a 4.0?? So let's say I find a 94 can I put the trans and tcase in my 97
