what size wheel spacer? (2-3" lift w stock wheels)
Hey there...been lurking for a while and need to join in. Especially helpful was reading up on death wobble issues. I've owned my XJ for about seven years and had a 2dr SE manual trans before that.
I have the Up Country package on my 00' Limited and recently installed a budget 2" lift for more or less 3" total. I installed Duratrac's today (245/75/16) on the stock Limited rims...they barely rub the lower control arms as expected.
Question: do you all think that a 1" spacer will be good enough to clear? Or should I go for 1.25" or 1.5". Hard to tell by just looking.
Thanks!

2" lift on 32x11.5's mounted to stock rims.. rubbed like a **** (and hit the stock lca's) until I tossed on some 1.25" spacers. now I can go lock-to-lock with zero rubbing at all. my fenders are trimmed/cut/folded tho, so YMMV

A few washers are ALOT cheaper than the spacers, they don't put undue stress on wheel bearings, have no chance of coming loose & a wheel falling off.
I personally would NEVER use wheel spacers. Use the washers or get new wheels.
You can sell those Icons you have for a good amount & almost pay for the new wheels.

On my 2000 xj my steering stops were welded from the factory. Just something to consider.
I went 1.5" spacers each side and I love it. The tires still tuck up in the fender wells but I completely clear the control arms.

My '98 is welded also but the weld is not a problem. You can still remove the bolt & welded on spacer & put a washer in there.
