haha, touring set up? what is it a sedan all of a sudden? lets at least call it a pre-runner.. but seriously im busting *****, man.. as far as being able to handle all of the gear that you say you'll be carrying, id suggest you look into ways to really help cool that engine and tranny. the 4.0's tend to run a bit warm, so a refreshed cooling system with maybe an upgraded radiator and definitely a tranny cooler. now as for the rest of it, you mentioned running 35's , so lets pretend thats actually what youll go with:

-4-5" of LA lift
-OTK steering upgrade
-SYE and DS
-brake line extensions
-some fender trimming
-HD ball joints/u-joints
-steering box/unibody braces
-extended bump stops
-IDK why youd consider a 1200lb. winch?? maybe you meant an olympus 12k winch? the 12,000lb model?
-im sure theres other stuff.

either way, use google and the search option here and youll find lots of preexisting info.

if I was building a touring rig I'd want some added battery power for my creature appliances
and something like this would be sweet

this is as of 2009. not sure if it is still true today

"The total amount you are allowed to lift your 4WD from the ground is 50mm. That is it! This includes any combination of larger diameter tyres, bodylifts and suspension lifts. Any higher lift than this willonly be eligible for conditional registration"

so keep that in mind when making suggestions for his rig.

good to know, though i would guess its the ops responsibility to inform us of that.. also, you must mean 50cm, not mm.. either way, 50cm is about 20" which really sucks if your looking to get some clearance..

i think i had the terminology wrong- so your only allowed to go 2" above stock? i thought it was saying that bumper could only be up to 20" from ground

So 2" higher than stock total? I'd be cutting the fenders, and throwing some skinny 33's under it. That alone would put it at the limit on stock suspension. Or around an inch of lift and 31's.
Doesn't allow for much change from stock, it kinda sucks.

I'd be adding a second battery and high output alternator too. Front and rear bumpers, gotta have recovery points. And a winch up front, 8000 lbs or better.

Yeah, he needs to chime in here. With current lift laws hopefully, because if the laws haven't changed, 35's may not be possible.
I'm curious what the conditional registration is too
