Buy a Lokka for $225 shipped and use the money saved for 29 spline axles.

Lock right. Mine is still going strong under its third vehicle and second housing/gearset. Probably close to 60k on it by now.

Buy a 29 spline Spartan and get some shafts from a 97-01 Xj in a junkyard.

You have to change the carrier when going from 27 to 29 splines. So now you are looking at a locker, carrier and axles. OP I have a 27 spline lock rite, love it.

Pm me and I can get you a great price on a lock right.
It doesn't make any sense to swap axles or do any thing else. 27 spline is plenty strong for 31-33's.

I am pretty sure the spiders and shafts are the only difference but I will look into it more.

Oh, believe me, the carrier must be changed. 29 spline spiders will not fit in a 27 spline carrier. First hand experience.

The 29spl bigger? Any pics comparing the two? I just want to see what the difference is out of curiosity.

I don't have pics. It's not a huge difference but enough to keep it from working. Anybody who wants to buy a 29 spline lunch box locker and a set of 29 spline shafts to put in their 27 spline carrier, have at it. Don't say I didn't warn ya. Now a full case 29 spline locker and 29 spline shafts will work great in a 27 spline housing.

I believe you, and it doesn't matter to me anyway, I just wanted to know what the difference was lol.

^ hes correct, need a carrier, spiders or locker, and shafts to swap in 29 spline. Also you would have to have your gears set up. Best bet is to buy one from a jy!

If you are worried about it, slap a locker in the d30 and go just as far as the rear would take you. Then you dont get the downfalls of a ratcheting locker in the rear in rain/snow in 2wd.
