What intake to run?
Before anyone starts the fights I have a quick question. I'm running a 98 xj with a 4.0 and 5 speed, bout' 4-4.5" of lift and 31s. I installed a spectre air filter when I changed the oil yesterday and I was wondering if I would experience any benefits if I were to run a Rusty's intake tube and an open element cone filter vs the spectre in the air box. Reason being is the Rusty's tube is cheap and I'm considering it. What are you guys running for intakes and did anyone notice anything. Thanks

Ok first of all a "cone on a stick" style intake will do nothing more than suck in hot engine air. I would however recommend the spectre cowl intake bc its really the only one out there that will take in cool outside air. It has a washable filter too. Either cowl intake or leave the stock air box

you may actually lose a pony or two with the cone in the engine department. Like others said, HOT air... the airbox has an opening in the front so at least it's getting are from the grill area.

i paid $119 for my spectre. i went that route instead of the stock air snorkel to free up some room in the engine bay. and i'd imagine it's a little better for deep water crossings.

Dont buy into that rustys air tube junk, it sounded cool for a while but i realized it had to go when i was getting water in almost ever time it rained or out wheeling. I did notice a slight power loss going back to the factory air box but its not enough to bother me.
