I dont have those installed yet, but I have them. Usually people get about 4+ inches when they first go in, and they setlle over time. They're quite stiff, stiffer than their 4.5" coils which I do have installed. I dont think id want to go with a stiffer coil, but thats my .02¢

Seems like I will need to go with another brand so I don't go over 4 inches of lift.

So far it looks like my best options are Rustys or maybe OME with larger spacer???

The RE 4.5 coils are on amazon for 80$/pair with free shipping. I would say do that and cut them down?

Cut them down? If its like cutting the springs in anything else its going to ride rough and it will get the job done tho but there are better options then cutting springs.

Cutting springs doesnt make it ride rough. Reason you get a rough ride when cutting, usually when lowering, is from bringing the axles closer to the bump stops and bottoming out.

Id look at Rusty's softer 3" coils.

I like giving supporting vendors my money vs "big box" But can you match their price and free shipping?

So, which is it? Price or smaller vendor? I choose smaller vendor, help out the guy who helps the community, not a box store that takes your money....and why the hell would you cut brand new springs? Detrimental. This whole question on how much lift a spring gives is subjective...it depends on how much weight you have on your ride, like aftermarket bumpers, winch, you get the idea...best way to do it is to compare spring rates with your vehicle weight. Only way to nail down a solid answer.

Free shipping from amazon is far from free.

I did not say 'Prime' shipping, but Amazon does offer FREE shipping on lots of products.
Jegs has free shipping on lots of their products too. Are you telling me that that is not "Free" either?

IMO, Prime membership pays for itself, just like my Costco membership.

A couple of "Truths"
Business's don't pay taxes, the customer does.
"Free" shipping has to be paid for by someone....and the business isn't paying for it.

You are paying for freight. It may be rolled into the cost shown on a website....but YOU are paying for it.

If you start with 4.5" nominal coils you will probably get 6" actual and would need to cut 2.5" (about 2 coils) to get 3.5" actual. This will make the spring quite a bit stiffer.

If I we intending to trim RE springs to get 3.5" actual, I would start with the 3.5" nominal springs.

Obviously there is a cost to amazon but they can probably get a better deal from the shippers than you can. They also have there own warehousing and distribution which, on the average, allows them to ship shorter distances.

I have purchased from you in the past, mostly because I felt much more confident that I would actually get a part that would work for my application. Amazon can be a little weak there....

Amazon uses third party warehouses and once the demand for something is high enough for whichever item they will buy it in bulk and get a transfer to there own warehouse.

And now back on track.......

Anyone use Old Man Emu ZJ coils in their XJ to see how the ride compares and how much lift it gives? A saw where someone mentioned it but could not find much info or a thread on it.
