what to do what to do?!
Hey guys I'm new to cherokees but I've forever been a jeep guy since my first wrangler! I have an 01 jeep Cherokee xj and it's currently in the shop being lifted
I'm having put on 6.5" long arms Sye kit Rear drive shaft New springs and shock of coarse 4.10 gears (I desired 4.88 but the guy doing it said that the amount I drive to work would be best if I just stayed with a 4.10 now and upgrade when I upgrade my axles. I currently have 8.25 rear and I'm pretty sure the d30 front) 35" Cooper stt And whatever else the set up I bought comes with I'm still unclear on what he said will come with it. Stinger winch bumper Plans: Roof rack (I'm building on from a forum using electrical conduit) 1-2 led light bars A set or two long range KCs I've always bought them A rough country 9500lb winch Lots of skid plates underneath (intend on doing first) Ridler diff cover Dr.x diff guard Spectre intake to the cowl Hi-Jack Now if anyone's suggests highly of anything to make my ride mechanically better for my set up please chim in and let me know. I drive about 30 mins to work everyday and I'm 18 so you know the trails is what I intend to do on my off time hahaha! |

EDIT: if it isn't too late, have him install 4.88's...you're gonna want it with 35's. Ask me how I know. Also, auto trans? Definitely 4.88's. Manual, 4.56 to get it as close to the original stock gearing as possible. |
Some shackle relocation brackets will help with your ride quality. And yeah, 4.10s and 35s will make you and your transmission upset. 4.56s and 35s will actually be as close to stock ratio as you can get, but when you factor in all the extra weight added and wind resistance the 4.88s are what you want. Also, if you want lockers now is the time!

NO with 35" tires a 4.88 gear is the one that brings it back to the stock gear ratio. 33's 4.56's, 31's get the 4.10's.
Do all you can to get the proper gears in there instead of the 4.10's, hell I wouldn't them with my 33's. |

Correct me if I'm doing this wrong but (27/35) x 4.56 = 3.51 and 4.88 = 3.76
Yes go to any of the charts listed here and you will see the proper ratios and what speedometer gear to use with them. |

I didn't see any mention of fender flares, with that lift and tire you are going to need to do some trimming. Why both led light bars and kc's?
I'm running 4.56 on my 6.5 long arm with 35's and am happy with that setup. |
I do plan on just trimming my fenders for flex room and I heard that when I upgrade my axles I will have to get diffrebt set of gears is that true and I can't afford a locker now sadly

My Cherokee is a 5 speed and had 225x75 r15s which are 28.3 inches tall, and I'm now running 35s which are 34.8 inches tall. With the extra height of the tires and lift plus the extra rotating mass of the 35s. I went with 4.88s which works great since I use the Cherokee mostly for wheeling. 28.3/34.8 X 4.88 = 3.968 or 3.97 to 1 I still get between 15 and 17 on the highway, but very seldom do I get enough highway time with it to make it an issue one way or the other. |
I've heard lunchbox locker setup what does that mean sorry for the dumb question I've never had lockers or looked into them

I have an Aussie in my 8.25 and a Lokka in the D30. I love them and both cost less than 1 ARB air locker. |
