moderate to light wheeling as of right now in the woods and climbing decent sized rocks, but later on when i get stationed somewhere where bigger obsticles are itll probably be alot tougher.
im trying not to go fullwidth and i might want to -1" or so of lift. 6.5" is a bit top heavy. i think im going to try an 8.8 rear swap with disk brakes, but im unsure of the front axle.

i run 35's on a stock dana 30, i plan to get the chromo shafts and want to get a truss when i get another mig. it seems to hold up fine as is, but i did upgrade the u-joints in it though.

The axles you have now will be fine for tires no larger than 35s. The 29 spline 8.25 can be strengthened by installing 1541H aftermarket shafts. The Dana 30 can be strengthened by installing Chrome molly shafts and a truss. Lock the axles you now have and you should be able to run any trail.

your other option is an early bronco d44. they have weld on radius arm bulges that can be removed. they are also close to stock cherokee width.
but, they are 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern and still only have the same 297 joints that the later xj d30s have. only real benefit is the axle shafts and ring and pinion is larger.
but for the sake and ease, look into those chromo shafts and joints. then you'll be stronger essentially than a stock 44.
