Youll need frame stiffners custom motor mounts new wiring harness custom tranny mount its not really worth the swap just build a 4.0 stroke it or boost it

Not to mention axle/driveline upgrades to handle the 5 grand neutral drops/sidestepping the clutch that usually follows a swap of this kind...

Unless you can make your own motor mounts your kinda up a creek. They do make motor mounts for a chevy small block but nothing ford for a xj.

you need to ask yourself if its really worth it...and then you have to be real with yourself as to whether or not you have the skills and resources to actually complete this 'ordeal'. cause i'll tell you right now...theres a reason you dont see a lot of blue oval hearts in a jeep...especially a cherokee. which obviously leads to the next thing you need to do. research. which means Google 'til your eyes bleed out of your skull.

good luck if you decide to actually do this. i would love to see it done!

Open rear hatch. Using engine lift, roll 302 into cargo area. Block with wood and lower engine. Secure with straps.

A mild 4.0 striker build would be way better , the inline will build more torque off idle than that 302 .

Ferd motors are too wide and lack the aftermarket support for swapping into an XJ.

GM Gen III FTW!!
Ask me how I know....

Oh boy , not enough support for an injected small block ford ?
Think 5.0 mustang and there is still a ton of support .
Not everyone wants a blow tie under there hood !

Op can put any motor he wants in it. We don't know his fab skills here.

There's a ton of swap components for sbf on the market. I've done a whole lot of swaps. Both gm and fords. You can't say that stuff.

Just my opinion.

Yes you are correct I just completed a 351 Windsor FI swap with a 4r70w into a 77 ford super cab . Painless stand alone to run the engine and a bauman controller to run the 4r70. Pretty nice set up !
