What is this.....
What is this? It's loose and squeaks. How do I fix it? Do I need to replace it?
Its loose where I'm pointing. I did not put the lift on and am new to mechanics, but have a strong desire to learn.
Thanks in advance.

Looks l8ike it was SUPPOSED to be a quick disconnect for your sway bar. Or someone just thought a spericial rod end would be a good idea instead of replacing the factory bushings. But either way, its the swaybar endlink.

Look like what was said earlier. Looks like a quick disconnect, try putting some grease around that bushing to get rid of the squeek. at least thats what i did and it worked for me

yep
They look like swaybar links to me too. I'd think that the original design works better and really doesn't take long to remove for wheeling.

if they slide back and forth, that's fine. you just don't want any up/down play.
if needed, you can replace the heim joint on the upper link and rubber bushing on the lower pin.
it is infact a quick disconnect sway bar end link. very handy to have if you off road.
definitely keep them hooked up for on the road. if the dmv or whatever stops you and you don't have them, you can be pulled in for a complete inspection. at least here, anyways.

They are Rubicon Express quick disconnects. the bottom is assembled wrong. flip the pin to the other side of the axle mount. what is "loose" about them? and not having a sway bar wont kill you.

i run without a sway bar. rear is pointless i can bend it like a side show attraction. the front help keep the body roll from getting to wild. if youve never done any extreme defensive driving then id say to keep it on. until you go off road that is.

You can't go back to stock with what looks to be a 4.5" lift, they won't reach. I have a 7" long arm lift that came with the truck and it had no front sway bar- it handled like crap on the road and made lots of crunchy noises that made passengers always say "should we pull over?" As soon as I got a new sway bar, removable end links and a polyurethane SB bushing kit all noises stopped and my truck handles better than a new stock XJ. DONT CHEEP OUT, get new removable end links on ebay for $100. lot's of reputable brands there for cheaper than Quadratec. Those hiem joints get replaced when there is play- if they ware out they pop off, which is why they are illegal for tie rods etc. and make sure you install 'em vertical, those are mounted wrong which is what gave you the play to start with.

I did it the cheap way...
cut the end links off at the threads, then cut the rear links the same way and welded them together, used the rear mount on the front, then added some farm pins...
it's been working for almost a year now...

Thanks for all your help. I am slowly, but surely learning more about my jeep.
