Voltage regulator? High output Alternator help!
Hey everyone I have a loaded question or series of questions (pun intended)
My 1997 Jeep XJ, has a dual battery set up with a Performance 250 AMP Dual Battery Control System from painless. In the future I would like add ons like winch, radios, lights, inverter (the works basically). I have already completed a big 3 upgrade. I run optima red top as my main battery and a yellow top as my aux battery (typically isolated). I installed a MEAN GREEN high output alternator. About 8months after I installed the alt (I don't drive this vehicle much maybe 100mi a month or less) I notice the dash battery gauge getting maxed out. Then I notice the radio restarts (after market clarion deck) then the whole jeep shuts off while running and now it doesn't run. When I try and crank it I hear the starter clicking and all the dash lights flashing randomly. I hear the mean green alt has a regulator internally and the jeep itself has one as well near the ECU or PCM. My question what the hell is happening ? I already checked the grounds. Can I not use my mean green alt in my jeep xj? Help What's a good high output alt solution for my problem of which I think could be volt regulator conflict? |
