Talking v8 tie rod swap

Ok guys I need a solid answer here, does the grand cherokee v8 tie rod assembly (including the drag link) bolt on and function properly in a '98 XJ? Or should I just use the tie rod portion? The drag links appear to be the same size and design but there is a lot of talk here on CF that they are not compatible. Please help me out, I have the parts and want to get this done while its not raining.

The drag link is the same on the ZJ and XJ, so only the tie rod from a ZJ is worth swapping.

I just did this this week with a steering set from a 94 GC with V8. I knew that the Tie Rod was the same and only the drag link was an upgrade. For ease, I just replaced the entire set up and replaced the 2 tie rod ends with new ones. Easiest work I have done on the XJ in a long time. Slides right in with no problem and it looks better too, you can see the beef.

You mean the tie rod is the upgrade and the drag link is the same, not the other way.

ZJ/XJ drag links are the same.

ZJ tie rod is solid and bigger than XJ, thus an upgrade.
