Upper sway bar torque spec w/poly bushings?
Only 13ft lbs, not 27ft lbs ???
Ok, so I just finished replacing my front sway bar bushings with Prothane poly bushings and looked up the torque specs. Main brackets 40ft lbs, lower link bolts 70ft lbs and upper link bolts 27ft lbs. I just felt like the bushings were going to split! So I backed the torque wrench off before reaching 27ft lbs and reset it to only 7ft lbs, which also looked mushroomed out too much ! But decided to go with adding 5ft lbs more and stopped there. So take a look at these and LMK if that's ok or what you did? I feel like they were too tight and deformed. ..

I never torque those bolts. I just tighten it until the bushing bubbles out just past the metal rings on top and bottom of the bushings. Never had a problem doing it that way. What you have is way too tight

I drove it afterward, you can feel the road more. Driving out curvy roads was effortless. However, it moved my steering wheel about 1/2" off center to the left. I think I'll go ahead and back'em off, and do it by eye, then see the results. When you compare the old OEM bushings, to the new OEMs, the deformity is even worse ! The new poly lower link bushings are about 1/8" longer? The upper bushings were about the same. I found info from another site, where they were sanding the lower link bushings to match the length of the OEMs. Then on another site, they were just tightening the uppers till they just start to expand. I'll update afterward.

Update,,, ok, I backed the nuts off all the way, removed them and cleaned the threads. Used blue lock-tite and tightened them back to where I felt they should be. I tightened them up till about 1/4" of the thread was above the nut. They aren't nearly as bulged, looks better too. When you tighten them up, it feels about the same all the way up to where I quit at 13ft lbs before ? I took it for a ride,,, steering is a little looser, better, but dont feel everything on the road as much. Here's a pic of them now.
Passenger side after.
Passenger side, before at only 13ft lbs !
Driver side after backing them off.
