Upper bumpstops
Searched on this topic and didn't find what I'm looking for.
This thing is finally coming together, just taking care of the little stuff now. Did a bumpstop test on my XJ just now, only took a few pics since my phone died on me. Anyway, took some measurements so that I can find the proper bumpstop for my truck.
On level ground I have about 5.5" of uptravel in my shocks. I went ahead and flexed it out and sitting the way it is in this picture, on the compressed side I have about 2.5" of shock travel left and 4.5" between my lower bumpstop and upper measured from the center of them, not the edge (there is no rubber in the upper yet since I was waiting to measure first). I am however having a backspacing issue. If I come up about 1.5-2" more the inner tire will hit my upper coil mount/fender. I am thinking I need to backspace it but unfamiliar with this whole ordeal.
What bumpstop do you guys think I should go with and what size spacers, if any?

Looks like you need a pretty good size stop in there. Just measure out what you have and add stops till your shocks don't bottom out. It's pretty easy, actually.
I'm thinking that longest you can get in extended screw in type are 3 inches. I'd add the 3 inch stops and add what ever else you need to add to the bottom.

That's what I'm thinking. I only have 5.5" of up travel to work with on my shocks so even though I wanted to tuck it, it really isn't that big of a deal. I do have a large amount of down travel though.
Think I should use spacers to push the wheel out a bit or just bump it and call it a day?

looks like your front shocks are too long, hard to see with that convoluted black rubber thingy on the shock. In the 2nd to last pic, is that about 2" travel left before the shock bottoms out? I'd say you don't want much more uptravel, set your bumps up to contacting each other in that pic, there will be some compression allowing a little more uptravel. You don't want your shock absorber to be the bumpstop

Anyway, yeah I definitely don't want anymore uptravel if I can bumpstop it easily. And I for sure do not want to compress my shocks all the way. Looks like I'll need to get some long uppers and see where I am at, then puck the bottom the rest of the way.

I've seen those before I just can't remember of the name of them off hand. I looked them up but nobody really posted a lot of info on them. How do you like them? Do you ever rub your fenders with them?

Yes I like them alot. Give a good soft ride when bottoming out. I've had them almost a year and they have held up good. You can cut them to the right size and they will compress about 3 inches. Mine are perfectly set where I dont rub at all. Which is one purpose of a bump stop.

I read on another Jeep forum that a bunch of guys ran them and loved them. Sounds like I really good idea. Are they 3" when fully compressed or do they compress about 3"? Also, do they mount to the lower bump stop?
